Helping the Homeless

June 8, 2007

Hello!
As announced yesterday, The Salvation Army has set up
a temporary Overflow Shelter for the homeless living at the
Springfield Library. Major Paul Logan and Shelter Director
Archie Ford worked to set up the overflow shelter during
the Library's book sale. Anyone homeless is invited to
stay in our building, take a shower and talk to our
caseworkers on how we can help them end their homelessness.
The Salvation Army will be the host for the SOS
(Springfield's Overlfow Shelter) this winter. Helping
Hands had lost their room to provide the SOS and The
Salvation Army stepped up to help this coming winter. "We
know it will add some difficulties to our normal
operations, but we felt those difficulties were nominal
compared to someone having to try to sleep in the cold,"
said Major Paul Logan.
